- Extremely easy to set up yourself

- Good for service based businesses who don’t need to sell products

THE BAD SIDE TO SQUARESPACE & WIX

- Terrible for actual growth. These platforms are only there for the ease of set up, and don’t come with a multitude of options in design, analytics, or plug-ins that will actually help grow your business in the long run.

- Monthly fees - You’re better off with a CMS such as Shopify if you really want to spend money on monthly fees.

- Easily hackable - these websites tend to be quite basic and make it all too easy for hackers to get into your website.

SHOPIFY PROS

- Easy to set up

- Great set of analytics & tracking

- Wide range of plug-ins to grow your business

- Very customizable

- Great for marketing

- Great for long term growth

SHOPIFY CONS

- Has monthly fees and a 2% afterpay fee, plans become more expensive as your business grows.

- Not made for service based businesses unless you’re actually selling your service online.

WORDPRESS PROS

- Over 43% of all websites are made on Wordpress

- The world's biggest CMS platform

- It’s absolutely free!

- There's a plug in for just about everything.

- As customizable as it gets

- Awesome at analytics and tracking

- Great for marketing

- Supportive of long term growth

- Works for both service and e-commerce based websites.

WORDPRESS CONS

- Just takes a little getting used to (not long, I promise!)

I hope this has helped clear out some information for everybody so you know what platform will fit you best. In the end, I believe Shopify and Wordpress are definitely the best platforms for small businesses who are looking at wanting to grow.

Highly recommend Wordpress if you don’t mind doing just a little bit of learning, it will save you AT LEAST $450 a year in comparison with Shopify, which you can put towards your marketing budget. Shopify is also amazing, if you don’t mind paying a monthly fee!
